From the President

The New Year has arrived with much excitement and hope the next twelve months will indeed be one of change for the better throughout our country and around the world. We, as patriotic Americans look forward to peace in the world and prosperity for all.

The first half of my term as president has passed by like a flash. The Executive Board had two meetings that were beneficial as we created the Affiliate Grant Program and T.E.A.M., (Together Encouraging Affiliate Membership). The Affiliate Grant Program is to assist affiliates in member recruitment and workshop/conference planning. Detailed information is included in this newsletter). T.E.A.M., is a committee that will contact and meet with representatives from school districts and colleges throughout the state interested in organizing an Educational Office Professionals Association.

The NAEOP Southwest Area Professional Days were held in Scottsdale in October hosted by the Arizona Past Presidents Association. It was a great opportunity to meet and network with NAEOP members from Arizona, California and Utah. We were very fortunate to have Pam Posey, NAEOP President Elect as a presenter. I am sure that everyone attending went home having revitalized their professional goals and with fond memories of renewed friendships.

On December 1st Rosie Reilly, Susan Nanni and I were invited to attend the first organizational meeting of office support staff from Yavapai County in Prescott. They were an enthusiastic, well-organized group with their goals already set. We were able to answer questions and advise them on how to organize an educational office professional’s affiliate. We look forward to their group becoming a part of AEOPA.

Good food, great company and a beautiful setting were found at the AEOPA Holiday Luncheon at the Hacienda Del Sol in December. I only hope that this will become an annual event and many more members will be able to attend.

Due to personal obligations I was unable to attend some affiliate events. I did attend the TEOP Bosses Dinner, a successful fund-raising event for their Student Scholarship Program. It was an enjoyable evening in a beautiful setting. I also attended their Holiday Tea at the Chantilly Tea Room.

We are finalizing plans for the Leadership Workshop in March. Look for registration and program information.

Nominations and Elections packets for 2009-2010 AEOPA offices of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Member Liaison will be distributed in the next month. I encourage you to get involved in making AEOPA a strong organization with the goal of assisting our members in their pursuit of success in their profession. Together we can do anything.

AIM HIGH – CHANGE WILL COME
